Welcome back to Woo Cricket where we help you pick the right car, right now. Right now, let’s talk about MG’s first SUV for India. Let’s go! MG’s first SUV for India will be called the MG Hector.
This, MG says draws inspiration from the Royal Biplane of the British Army, as well as Prince Hector from Troy. The MG Hector is a close cousin of the Chinese Baojun 530. In India, it’s expected to carry a near identical design with elements such as slender day time running lamps, and machine-finished alloy wheels. And it is big – bigger than the Compass in all aspects – and bigger than the Tata Harrier on most fronts! Yes it is big and the wheel base is the longest in the segment! But, the MG Hector will not be a seven-seater SUV.
It will be a five-seater.There’s no glimpse into the interior just yet, but we expect it to be loaded with features. You can expect features such as ESP, leather upholstery, a massive touchscreen infotainment system and a panoramic sunroof as well. MG has confirmed that the Hector will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine borrowed from Fiat. This engine makes 173 horse power and 350 NM under the hood of the Jeep Compass and is expected to develop similar numbers here. There’s no word on transmission options just yet, but a 6-speed manual is likely tobe standard. MG will also offer a petrol engine, likely to be a 1.8 litre engine. The MG Hector will be officially showcased in April 2019, followed by launch in the next couple of months.
Expect prices to start around 15 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). It will take on the likes of the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500.If you’ve liked this Post, don’t forget to give it a thumbs up. Thank you so much for reading!
